Phil serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Sierra Energy Holdings, LLC and its subsidiaries and affiliated entities (“Sierra”), which has a continuing large equity commitment from Oaktree Capital (“Oaktree”) and Providence Energy Ltd (“Providence”). Sierra is currently focused on acquiring mineral and royalty assets in the Haynesville shale in North Louisiana and East Texas, as well as the Delaware and Midland Basins of Texas and New Mexico. To date, Sierra has acquired over 20,000 NRA’s in the Haynesville and over 5,000 NRA’s in the Permian Basin.

Phil joined the Providence team, which serves as Sierra’s General Partner, in August of 2020. Providence is a privately held energy investment and management company formed in 1993 and based in Dallas, Texas. Currently, Providence owns and/or manages interests in nearly 2 million gross acres of minerals and over 10,000 oil and gas wells. Prior to joining Providence, Phil served as a Managing Director within the oil and gas group of Simmons Energy, and before that he was a Managing Director of the Natural Resources Group of Barclays. Early in his career, Phil worked as a Petroleum Engineer with Texas Oil and Gas Corp. and as Assistant to the President of Snyder Oil Corporation. Phil graduated with Honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Petroleum Engineering and later received his MBA from The Wharton School.
