Scott Greenip is a Senior Energy Officer performing policy analysis in the Bureau of Energy Resources at the U.S. Department of State. In this role he heads up the Analysis team in the Office of Policy Analysis and Public Diplomacy. His duties as an energy markets analyst include the development, promotion and dissemination of analysis on current issues of concern in international energy policy, particularly on global oil and gas markets. He is also the desk officer covering the International Energy Agency, serving as the U.S. State Dept.representative to the IEA Standing Group on Long-Term Cooperation.
Prior to joining the U.S. State Department he was a Country Manager at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) for fourteen years covering Europe and Eurasia and heading up the Traditional Energy and Power Sector team. At USTDA he managed and implemented more than 70 grants worth over $35 million for feasibility studies and technical assistance on major infrastructure investment projects whose implementation would cost more than $12 billion, and which resulted in more than $1.8 billion in U.S. exports. Previously, he served as a financial analyst with MCT Corp., an international cellular telecommunications company, as a program analyst in the Office of Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Commerce and as a senior research analyst with the private market research firm, AISA s.r.o., in the Czech Republic.
Mr. Greenip holds an M.A. in International Relations with concentrations in International Economics and Russian Area and East European Studies from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in International Relations from Pomona College.
